Embracing my new life

Monday 1 June 2015

Well, hello there! How have you been? It's been aggggeeessss. All my fault of course, unless you are on instagram (and even that is not a guarantee) I have no idea what has been happening in the last month or so, except within my household. And to be honest, this has been keeping me busy. We have been sick, we have been sad, we have had tantrums (me mostly), we have had tears (the toddler mostly), and we have been happy

Little Baby MiH turned 6 months last month, and I just really had to stop and think of what I wanted for my family and out of my family life. If I am honest, going from 1 child to 2 children has been quite a challenge for me (so a third one is definitely NOT on the card). There are different reasons for that, but the main one was that I was trying to go against having this new family size rather than embracing the excitement that is to have two boys who are active and enthusiastic about everything. It sounds obvious but it was not for me. And it is not until we went to Paris a couple of weeks ago that I realised how exciting seeing adventures through children eyes could be.

Don't get me wrong, it is still hard work, but rewarding hard work. We have more tired babies and less tears - a sure sign they enjoyed themselves at ours. Some people get the two children business straight away, but I didn't. Although in the GRAND scheme of things 6 months is not bad - it was just a long 6 months.

I feel now that I can fit in more craft time. I stopped last month, it was easier that way to go through the day. I started sewing for the first time in a long time today - and it is as therapeutic as I remembered crafting to be. The next step will obviously be to join the crafting community again. Soon, very soon. Watch this space!

  4. Glad things are starting to slot into space for you, sometimes it takes a while. Our first pregnancy was twins so when we had our pregnancy, I was rather unprepared for how much time a third child would take up along with the twins. It all works out in the end though. Enjoy your boys, I wish I had those days back (sometimes!)

  5. Adorable photo! You must print and frame for your bathroom! Yes! You hit it on the nail how setting things through your children's eyes can be much more fun! Family friendly places I'd rather be with my girls. And yes, the dynamics of the family changes with two children. I wouldn't be able to do three. I'm not that kind of mother. I'm done breastfeeding, changing diapers, and potty training.

  6. what a precious photo, I hope you frame it! I can imagine how difficult it is to go through a big change like that- another child, no matter how wanted and how prepared for, always changes the dynamic of the day-to-day. But it sounds like you've got an excellent perspective on it, which is amazing. You are doing a great job with your boys!

  8. Such a lovely foto! May I add that I envy you a tiny little bit that you were able to fit in some crafting time again? Sewing hasn´t been in my cards lately (sweet baby of 8 months and working fulltime since baby was 4 weeks old) and I feel how I miss being creative. I just started to look at my favourite sewing blogs lately so... baby steps...back to sewing. Maybe ;-)

  9. The photo is just so gorgeous!! They are so sweet! Bath time is great :) I think being a mum is hard work and I always find change difficult so I completely empathise. Six months is a good adjustment period and I'm so glad you are enjoying your family!
