Steampunk Chandelier + GIVEAWAY {Jewellery making}

Tuesday 7 May 2013

I had wanted to make my own earrings for a long time - I even found cute kits (you need to start somewhere), but never took the time to sit down, read the instructions and make them. But what does one do at 6.30 am in the morning - in my house the boys are asleep (especially Baby MiH - he is a snoozing machine) whilst I catch up with my projects - and this morning it was all about jewellery making.

Why today I hear you ask? Well I needed something to go with a certain project that is finally finished (spoilers on facebook) and will appear on Friday.

It was not easy to find kits I actually liked on internet. I came across Spoilt Rotten (they are not sponsoring me by the way), and just loved the Steampunk Chandelier kit. It is totally my style and seemed fairly easy to do - as well as good value (if I were to fail). Unfortunately I cannot see this model on it on their website.. This what you get in the kit ...

I also watched this video for the wire wrapped loop. For those who made earrings before, you will notice that my loops above the beads are a bit more... creative, I did not have chain nose pliers. But I like the result, so totally fine with that.

I spent probably an hour and a half to make the pair - Mr MiH even had time to take pictures in the morning before he left for work. I was pretty chuffed. So do you want to have a go at jewellery making? I bought 2 kits, but the green of the second one is not exactly what I was looking for. I love the style, but I don't have anything to wear with this green.

So I thought I would give the chance to one of my followers to have a go at jewellery making.

The giveaway is open internationally to followers only - old and new. Leave me ONE comment, letting me know how you follow the blog and what you would be wearing the earrings with.

The giveaway will remain open until Sunday 12 May at 5pm - the winner announced that evening. Good luck everyone!

They are really lovely chandalier earrings Nat - I have dabbled in jewellery making (photos on the blog under the tab jewellery at the top of the page - take a look if you have a mo) and wire wrapping is not easy but I do have the tools!
