Sunny {Sewing}

I buy a lot of sunglasses - cheap and cheerful ones usually because I keep forgetting my sunglasses but cannot live without them - my eyes are very sensitive, really it is not just for the look ... Unfortunately they are that cheap that they come without a case. And then Lucy used this tutorial, and I knew I had to make a case - I am quite attached to my sunglasses, cheap or expensive.

This is a Baby MiH nap time project. In fact I probably spent more time choosing the fabrics than making it. I wanted a fabric that said sun, beach, holiday! The Outside Oslo Dusk Skiff represented all that (my interview of the designer can be found here), and of course the canvas weight is perfect for something that will be tossed in my bag all the time. I am not sure what the lining fabric is but it is matching, and so is the thread (my facebook followers will know I was very pleased about this unexpected surprise!).

I did not change anything to the tutorial, I may have made it a bit more snug than suggested because I was worried my sunglasses would come out. There is no chance of that now.

It is a super fun and useful project.I also got my head around adding lining to a case - which may come in useful for a future project I have in mind..

  2. That is a great case. The fabric is cute and definitely says summer!
    I once got a free leather case from the store when I bought my glasses and it tore! But they replaced it for free. Damn straight better since I paid big bucks for it.

  8. I just found your blog and love it!
    I have been trying to teach myself to ware sunglasses forever, but find the cases annoyingly big and bulky to carry around in my small handbag. When I saw your picture - dah! of course, I need a fabric case!
