London 2012 Paralympics {cross-stitching}

Thursday, 30 August 2012

You know it, the Games are back in London and I will be watching them! It started with the amazing Opening Ceremony yesterday. And it also means that cross-stitching is back on the evening agenda. I had made some progress with the project, but not as much as I hoped (way too much bouncing around the living room to will people to win or celebrate the fact that they won, rather than sit down and cross-stitch!).

One tree is done, the next one (which is the bigger one) is shaping up nicely, I have the third one to start on. My trees are blatantly oval  less round than the original pattern - I blame it on the linen fabric, and not my inability to count the threads whilst watching the Games

I have left the bottom out on purpose as I am not sure what to do with the little squirrels and how long the trees should be (a very boring bit to stitch to be honest). The squirrels may be cross-stitched in grey. Will have to see when I get there. I have also omitted the hearts (you can see there is a sort of hole above the two birdies) - again will need to see the finalised cross-stitch and make a decision on what to do, how much energy I have left for some more cross-stitching.

It is Really Random Thursday over at Live a Colourful Life and I thought I would share with you some inspiration from Stephen Hawking out of his speech at the Opening Ceremony for the Paralympic Games 2012:

"Creativity can take many forms, from physical achievement to theoretical physics.
However difficult life may seem there is always something you can do and succeed at."

London 2012 {Part 2}

Warning! this is again ALL about the Olympics and not craft related at all!

This is it, London 2012 is now finished. But just to live it one more time, here are some pictures from Saturday night events at the Olympic Stadium. It is dubbed over here as Super Saturday 2 - and it was definitely one of the most exciting events I have ever attended. I spent more than half of the event standing, cheering, singing. It was unbelievable. The pictures speak for themselves... For those who love the Olympics as much as I did, here are some snaps...

The Waiting Game
Proud to be British, clearly...
Women High Jump final
Men 5000m Final
After the Women 4x400m Relay
That can only mean one thing...
The Men 4x100 m Relay
And Bolt!
 PS: I will try to upload some other pictures on the MiH Facebook page - I have taken quite a few...
PSS: Craft posts and life in general will now resume as normal..

London 2012 {Part 1}

Thursday, 9 August 2012

Warning: this a non craft post, and it is ALL about the Olympics!

So in case you have not noticed (you may have never been on my blog), I am really into the Olympics, not as much as Mr MiH, of course, but pretty hooked nonetheless. Let's not talk about Team France's performance however. I will support my team whatever happens, but seriously we need some gold medals here and now! Moving on.. Last Sunday, I had the opportunity to visit the Olympic Park and here are some snaps for those of you who may not have the chance to visit it!
