One tree is done, the next one (which is the bigger one) is shaping up nicely, I have the third one to start on. My trees are blatantly oval less round than the original pattern - I blame it on the linen fabric, and not my inability to count the threads whilst watching the Games.
I have left the bottom out on purpose as I am not sure what to do with the little squirrels and how long the trees should be (a very boring bit to stitch to be honest). The squirrels may be cross-stitched in grey. Will have to see when I get there. I have also omitted the hearts (you can see there is a sort of hole above the two birdies) - again will need to see the finalised cross-stitch and make a decision on what to do, how much energy I have left for some more cross-stitching.
It is Really Random Thursday over at Live a Colourful Life and I thought I would share with you some inspiration from Stephen Hawking out of his speech at the Opening Ceremony for the Paralympic Games 2012:
"Creativity can take many forms, from physical achievement to theoretical physics.
However difficult life may seem there is always something you can do and succeed at."
First of all, that stitching looks beautiful, I would never be able to do that! And I also really enjoy the quote.
ReplyDeleteI think you've gotten quite a bit done! A grey or taupe squirrel would fit your colours well. For a quick filler, you could embroider little music notes above the birds. Or a tiny little word. Great inspirational quote!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful stitching, Nat. It'll turn lovely I'm sure. What do you plan to do with it, by the way?
ReplyDeleteThat Rocks Nat!
ReplyDeleteThe trees look utterly gorgeous!! x
ReplyDeleteI just love your cross stitch pattern -- beautiful! Such a great quote, too!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful stitching!
ReplyDeleteWow those trees look incredible! It makes a change to see one go from in progress to finished =D
ReplyDeleteThat's really pretty. Very intricate work!
ReplyDeleteYour brightly colored birds are stunning against the subtle background of the trees.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! And thanks for linking!
ReplyDeleteYour stitches look tiny! I would be going cross-eyed doing that! Wondered if you would reconsider the grey squirrels as red ones are our native species....?
