One little word for 2016

Friday 1 January 2016

Happy New Year everyone!

Happy Friday (yes, it is Friday!)! I have been thinking a lot about this new year. In fact I have been thinking so much about it that I totally stopped crafting - I am looking at my IG feed, and there is not a little sign of a needle (any needle) out there. I have been writing my list, and if I were to compare this one to previous years' lists, the mundaneness of it would be truly laughable. But it is not. This year's list is called - The Happiest I Can Be. And it seems that matching bras and pants would make help me be happier - it is written on the list, so it must be true; having new socks (ethical, of course) would too. Unconsciously I wrote a list of things I could achieve - it does go beyond my underwear issues by the way.

This year's word - a word to focus on, meditate on, and reflect upon this year - was easy to find. It is already there in everything I try to do, make or seek to see. I was tempted to go for #mindfulness, but I am not always present in the moment, and I did not think it was fair to expect me to be all the time living in the present, because I do love reminiscing about the happy past, and it is hard to come back into the present.

My word is MEANINGFUL - I am thinking spending time on meaningful relationships, holding on to meaningful objects in our home (ie declutter), finding the meaning of food too to help me heal, and also choosing the right words to express happiness and sadness.

Have you chosen a word for this year? Or have you gone for over the top resolutions?

I did buy my matching underwear (sort of, I am really skin sensitive so it is not actually an easy task), and new socks, little steps towards the happiest I can be.

  1. Happy New Year Nat! I think that choosing "meaningful" as a goal for the year to come is a brilliant idea. Considering the year you've just had, I also hope that it will be a healing one. All the best!

  3. What a wonderful goal for the coming year. I really like what you said about choosing meaningful words and meaningful objects to fill your home. And your happiness list! Maybe we should all really stop and consider what realistic things we can do to enhance our happiness. New socks sounds like a great place to start! :)

  4. My word is spiritual, not too dissimilar to meaningful, funny how we use words that weren't important to us this time last year. Wishing you a year full of happiness Nat xx

  8. I have never felt the need for matching underwear! But nice underwear is important to one's self esteem. I like the way you are thinking. I think if I had a word this year it would be caring.
