Sewing Inspiration {Red Book Cover}

Wednesday 24 April 2013

If you live in Britain, and had a baby, I am sure you know all about the red book. The red book - or your baby health written record -  is given to you when you are responsible enough don't have to see the midwives anymore. So as far as books are concerned, this is fairly important - the one that replaced your own book in your handbag.

It is not exactly a glamorous cover, but I was inspired by a cover by Barnabe aime le cafe and another one by Emma & Valentine and knew that I could have a cool item in my handbag again.

Around the same time, I saw the Alexander Henry's Golden Garden in Teal fabric on this blog, and knew it would be perfect. Even better, I found it here in Tea - with some red - to go with the red book theme. It was all meant to be! All is ready, I have an image in mind of how it is supposed to look like.

I also found my own health book - and here is the 4-month page - it is very funny to compare weights and heights - let's say his height has nothing to do with me...

  4. That's so cool how you're given that. We get little paper ones for our kids. Do you fill it out or the doc? I think it's great that you're making a pretty cover for it.

  7. At least your book is a decent colour to begin with, in Australia ours are yellow. Yep, yellow - what on earth do you do with yellow? You put it in a cupboard and forget about it. Now if I had red ones...

  8. I know the red books. Looks like the cover design has changed somewhat over the last 9 years though.
    I like your new cover better.
