So let's start with boho chic. I love this outfit - it is timeless, seems so comfortable, yet effortlessly chic. The green of the skirt is amazing.
To recreate this boho chic look (sort of):
1. For the top, my first choice of pattern would be RENFREW (by Sewaholic). There are too many to list them all, but do check those made by Jane in double knit; Jo's in spandex knit, the chevron version by Lauren, the review by Gorgeous Fabrics, and Amanda's twin needles sewing tips. For a more casual look, you could also try the BRIAR SWEATER by Megan Nielsen. Megan is hosting a sew-along at the moment, and there is a discount on the pattern. For more inspiration, check out the MN Flickr Pool.
2. Pleated skirt don't really suit my body shape, so I focused on long bohemian skirts. Two patterns are from the March 2013 BURDA style magazine (no 122 and 123). For a more formal-ish I would also consider the HOLLYBURN skirt (by Sewaholic) - in a longer version - there is a sewalong going on at the moment.
That really does look effortlessly stylish - on the model at least! I have a bad feeing I'd look quite different :)
ReplyDeleteI love that look too and that's the kind of thing I might wear here in the summer although not looking so effortlessly chic. The top wouldn't have long sleeves and I would avoid the pleats but definitely a maxi skirt. This is a great idea - love it!
ReplyDeleteI adore that skirt - the perfect green! I'm going to enjoy this series :o)
ReplyDeleteThis look is perfect, casual and chic at the same time! I hope to see this 'Recreate' series on a regular basis on MiH! Nat, have a nice evening, Caterina
ReplyDeletePS: Apologise if I haven't sent you the email with my research, but I've spent the last two days in meetings outside of Brussels...
this is a great looking outfit! I think your choices are great, that's the secret isn't it? Taking an outfit an knowing how to tweak it to fit your body-type. It will look great!
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is great inspiration. It's so cool how you can recreate the gist of these yourself. Clothes are so expensive today.
ReplyDeleteI am totally sold. So where can i get that green skirt please.
