I did not knit this, one of my friends did (and she really needs to start her own blog, yes you do my dear!) - but she did provide some feedback on the pattern... I can only comment on the sizing.
- Pattern: Debbie Bliss duffel coat from Essential
- Modifications: a fold in the hood
- Yarn: Debbie Bliss Rialto in shade 024
- Size: 0-3 months
- Feedback on the pattern: according to my friend this is super easy to knit - really straightforward for a beginner.

We love it here! The yarn is beautiful, and so soft! It is easier to put on the coat thanks to the stretching of the garter stitch. The fold in the hood is definitely needed as it seems that the hood is quite big.
Did you see the little pocket? |
I was very surprised this was knitted in a size for 0-3 months. Baby MiH fits only in 3 months+ (yes, he is still only 2 months), and this is still a bit big for him (although it is easily resolved by folding the sleeves). It will grow in this one which is great.
A very happy Baby MiH indeed!
Aw what lovely photos and what a cosy looking coat too :-)
ReplyDeleteOh I want one. That looks really lovely and cosy.
ReplyDeleteSuper cute baby.
Such a cozy looking sweater. I'm sharing a knitted dolly this week.
ReplyDeleteThe camera loves your little boy and he loves his coat with hood:)
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous coat and model!
ReplyDeleteAdorable!
ReplyDeleteOh those eyes! The cutest model. Your friend did a lovely job. I have some Debbie Bliss books. They are great!
ReplyDeleteBliss patterns run big, but then, that means they have more time to wear it. Roll up the sleeves and who cares if it's a little long in length, babies will always grow into it. The coat is darling, but the darling is cuter!
ReplyDeleteWhat a charmer! I think Baby MIH is a natural in front of the camera! And, he certainly wears hand-knits well.
ReplyDeleteADORABLE .. and so is the little duffel coat :)
ReplyDeleteNat, these are the most adorable pictures!!! I mean those eyes, that face, he is a perfect model! And the color of the coat could not be any more perfect to suit those eyes! The coat is also super-cute, I was actually looking at this pattern for my sister's baby (she is due in 2 months).
ReplyDeleteAwww, he just gets cuter!
ReplyDeleteGreat pattern and totally adorable baby model!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, he is practically edible! The knitting is stunning - I am in awe.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous baby! He looks really happy in his knitting coat.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteYour son is the sweetest and that sweater coat is just gorgeous. You friend knits beautifully!
ReplyDeletehe looks adorable in his warm and cosy coat!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute coat and an even cuter baby:)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful baby! Sweater is nice also...
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, that is the cutest baby and I love that sweater. You've completely sold me, I'm learning to knit! Sooo cute :)
ReplyDeleteOh he is so handsome! His baby blues are stunning and the coat is perfect for him.
ReplyDeleteDebbie Bliss patterns always seem to run large. (Better than small dont you agree!?) still visiting from Yarn along. Beautiful blog.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute outfit and an oh-so-gorgeous baby - simply adorable!
