Zigzags and other chevrons {In search of inspiration}

Friday, 20 September 2013

Is Chevrons dead? Is it way too 2012? Personally I don’t think chevrons will ever go out of fashion. It is my mathematical mind, it is all well organised, I love it. And yet I hardly have any in my home – and none in my wardrobe. I find it hard to actually make it work for me.

 1. Vintage Rainbow Chevron blanket (Picture from Pinterest, others in the same Etsy shop;
 or you can learn to crochet it via this tutorial and this one for the eyelet); 2. Notebooks
by Jessica Hogarth Designs found on Notonthehighstreet.

However Jess has given me the perfect opportunity to overcome this difficulty – and I am on the hunt for some inspiration for a quilt.

 I love the colours of this cushion. 3. Vintage cushion available from NeonVintage on Etsy.

4. Knitted cushion from Seven Gauge Studios found on Notonthehighstreet; 5. Cushion from
Sian Elin found on Notonthehighstreet; 6. Tray (possible DIY inspiration?).

7. Jay-Cin Designs for Birch Fabrics

So who feels they need more chevron in their lives?

  1. I love chevrons, although like you have none in my wardrobe. I've been reading Lucie Summers book and it has some fabulous chevrons that have totally inspired me. Can't wait to see what you make!

  2. I love chevrons - wish I could wear them. I made a quilt for my son 3 years ago in chevrons and I still love it to this day.

  5. I like chevrons too and certainly hope they stick around for at least another summer. For some reason chevron has a very summery vibe to me.

  6. I don't think I'm naturally drawn to chevrons although I should be as Z's nickname is Zig Zag...I do love your inspiration pics and love those green and white poufs (?!)...also loving the clamshells in the very Moroccan first image.

  7. personally I'm not into this print, but you have found a great way to make it stylish and I'm sure your quilt/cushions will be very stilish! Caterina

  8. I quite like chevrons but find they are so graphic they can be a little hard to use as a print within a quilt. Funnily enough I just finished a chevron quilt - will be on the blog later this week. Your chevron picks are gorgeous - can't wait to see what you do with them.

  9. Aaah.. a blog post that speaks to my heart. We are deciding on furniture for our new flat but wondering if those black and white chevron carpets that look so amazing are out before we even knew they were in! I love the contrast...

  10. I made a baby quilt in chevrons out of seventies vintage fabric. Not many people seemed to like it. I do, so just have to wait for the right baby to come along.
