It is crochet - inspired by quilting of course (I have always had a soft spot for plus quilts). The colour scheme is sort of the Totally Groovy QAL one.
For the main colours I used some Sirdar Country Style yarn in different shades (on offer at HobbyCraft in the UK)- which is quite good value and can be washed whenever needed. The 'quilting' and border yarn is Patons Valiani in navy.
Les souris grises cushion can be found here |
It is made out of granny squares - probably quite obvious from the pictures, and arranged as for a plus quilt. I tied the plus together with the same yarn (using single crochet stitches) and 'quilted' with the Patons yarn.
The good thing about the blanket being made out of granny squares is that I can make adjust the size of it as Baby MiH is growing (if the blanket can make it that far).
The only question now is which side I like best... Head or Tails.
All le Challenge #1 projects can be found here. The next theme will be announced on 15th April at 3pm.
The 'back'... maybe my preferred side, not sure.. |
Good colour combination and Head or Tails.... both sides look pretty:)
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of a crocheted plus throw. I've repinned your pin!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful Nat - huge fan of blue and orange. Baby MiH is just too cute :o)
ReplyDeleteNow that's the kind of crochet I like - it's a beautiful blanket and I too have a fondness for plus quilts.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful blankie Nat. I love plus quilts too (am working on one now, in fact) but this version is TO.DIE.FOR. I am definitely keen to master the art of crochet this winter. You are a constant inspiration. xo

Magnifique! JJ
ReplyDeleteI really like the plus design in crochet - great idea :)
ReplyDeleteOh I really love the back the most - great Pin! Would love most of the items! Looks like I need to start making granny squares, love Le Challenge it is so fun to see what everyone made!
ReplyDeleteIt's so cute! I love the design and even cuter with Little Mr. MiH chewing away. He's getting so big!
ReplyDeleteThe idea to make a blanket that can grow with the baby is so clever! I´ve always loved the cross quilt pattern, too but never thought about using it for a crochet blanket. Oh the picture with baby MiH is precious!
ReplyDeleteI love the triangles and the diamonds of the cushion. It's so cute. The Granny Square blanket is very nice. Baby certainly likes it.
