Tapenade {knitting} + GIVEAWAY

I only took one project with me on holiday (how to choose?) - I don't know how much progress I will be making, but I just need to have something with me. It is reassuring - my fingers may go numb otherwise, you never know. However it is not a small project, in fact it is quite huge (but more on that when I am back). I really want to finish it, so any progress I make will be great. 

 So tapenade and no recipe posted? No, tapenade is how I described the colour of the yarn I hoped Steph at SixSkeins would dye for me (using organic merino silk wool, light worsted DK yarn).  It is the same yarn type I used for the Shale Baby Blanket made for Baby MiH. And, well, let me tell you I love it.

The actual colour is even better than the colour I described/had in mind. The knitting fabric shows it beautifully. Can you see the subtle variegated yarn? And the yarn is also a dream to knit. And guess what? Steph can make the same colour to you if you ask her too! 


And well she is so lovely that is offering a hand dyed yarn for one of my readers! Lucky you! A real shame I cannot enter my own giveaway! A skein of aran in Royal turquoise - the yarn is a blend of baby Alpaca, Merino and Bamboo. And you get 167 metres (way enough to make a vintage headband maybe?). The recommended needle size is 4.5mm/5.5mm.

The giveaway is open until Wednesday next week - ending at 5pm GMT. It is open internationally.

    It would have to be either a hat or a cowl. That colour would be perfect for me. There would be garter stitch or moss stitch involved to make the colours pop.

    Ok I want that yarn - winter is heading to Australia and I need to knit myself something yummy and it would more than likely be a scarf with some of the decorative stitches from one of my Nicky Epstein books (knitting on the edge or knitting over the edge).

    It's so cold here, I think I'd have to knit a pair of hand warmers with it so I don't freeze as I type. The alpaca/merino combination would be lovely and cosy!
