A P..P.. Penguin {quilting}

Saturday 30 March 2013

After asking for help on the MiH facebook page, I have finally managed to finish my first - ever - paper piecing project - Greetings from Antartica! Thanks Lynette! I really wanted to make this cushion cover, and in fact I bought Pretty in Patchwork: Holidays for this very pattern. It made me want to push through despite not understanding fully paper piecing (there seems to be as many tutorials as methods to do paper piecing). I am better, but still not great - practice will be key...

So I used tracing paper as suggested by this tutorial - that really helped me somehow; Sonja wrote out a tutorial for her pattern - that was helpful too, and finally Lynette sent me the link of her tutorial...

I am not sure whether this is the start of a wonderful relationship or a one-off project. For the time being, I am going to enjoy being in my comfort zone and finish off the cushion!

  2. Gorgeous little penguin. And I completely agree with Beth - the more paper piecing you do the more it makes sense!

  3. Great job Nat - Katy has a great series on her blog (the Littlest Thistle) - Foundation Paper Piecing for the Terrified - I was able to do some PP after looking at a couple of her posts - looks like you are doing fine though.

  6. He is adorable! A totally cute pillow he will be. I like to paper piece too, but find that I do it rarely enough that it almost seems new each time I try it haha - an ever learning journey!

  11. I love paper piecing because accuracy is not my strongest skill and pp allows me to be accurate. It does get easier as you get more and more used to it.

  13. I'm keen on designing however working in a corporate setting and working underneath another person doesn't interest me. I know there are independent developers, visual architects, SEO in dubai and essayists however is there a such thing as an independent engineer?Is it conceivable to fill in as free specialist (I'm thinking about mechanical or PC) and work for customers that demand a specific plan or item.

  14. Cotton truly took off after the creation of the cotton gin. As you most likely are aware, cotton makes adaptable and effectively oversaw materials, and with the development of that as of now referenced machine,
    budget web service turned out to be significantly less costly to deliver than different materials, for example, fleece.
