Revealing it all {The Book Clutch}

It is a finish but not the final finish. I have many issues with this first try at making a book clutch a la Olympia le Tan (you can see her creations here). I love it and hate it at the same time. I love the cover, how it looks handmade whilst still very much looking like an actual Penguin book. I hate how the overall cover does not fit totally, and how some of the sides are not exactly covering the whole wooden box. 

 Let me show you what I am talking about...

What I was trying to replicate

This side is really the worse.. 
However, I have made a lot of improvements already, and I am ready to make another one (in a much simpler way, I am not even going to explain how hard I made it to myself) and, if anyone is interested, I will also make a tutorial - so who is going to join me and be the most fashionable crafter around (without spending a £1,000!!!!)?

 Thanks Caterina for the challenge, it took a bit of time - and even a bit more, but I am so happy to have had a chance to try!

    I think a tutorial would be fantastic! I love all your embroidery, although I have no clue how to do it. I know it's got to be a lot of work. Looks awesome!

    What a wonderful piece! I understand the feeling of not being completely satisfied with your own work, but I will say, as an outsider, I am utterly blown away by how amazing this looks! I only wish I could join the fun and come up with something even half as good :)
